But thanks to a low roll on the Random Career Events Table in 2019 I\n have a window to turn my hobby into a business, and here we are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The venture\u2019s name, by the way, is in tribute to a tree that once \nstood in the neighbourhood where I\u2019m based. I\u2019ll maybe do another blog \npost about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a\nbrief outline of what I\u2019m starting with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>After-school\nclubs<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I currently* run two afternoons a week at my kids\u2019 school, but I\u2019m \nopen to expand in the local area (London SE23, SE4 and nearby). I \ndeliver a customised version of a well-known and popular tabletop \nfantasy roleplaying game for the 9-11 age group (Year 5 and Year 6); \nlook on this blog for the tag School of Adventure. I could also run the \nfull game for Year 7 and up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Running\ngames<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019d be\nhappy to consider running other games for children or adults\u2014get in touch if\nyou\u2019re looking for a group to join, a DM for you and your friends, or an\nactivity for your kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Editing\nand consulting services<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I have experience and knowledge of writing, editing, proof-reading, \nworld-building and game design that hopefully I\u2019ll demonstrate on this \nsite and in my products, so I can help you with your own game design, \nworld-building and writing projects. If you would like my input, just \nget in touch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Articles\nand products for gamers<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m a bit\nof a history geek, and a little bit of a geography nerd, so I produce resources\nthat help world builders, game masters and players make use of historical and\ngeographical studies for inspiration and guidance. I\u2019ll start with some freebie\nblog posts and suchlike bits and pieces, and work up more substantial products\nfor sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\nwill also be other kinds of material: advice for game masters and players;\ndrop-in elements like monsters, magic, encounters and adventures; optional\nrules; and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Get involved in the comments and discussions and let me know what you would like to see me produce \u2013 I\u2019ll be happy to work on stuff that I know has an audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*I wrote that paragraph before the March 2020 COVID-19 lockdown in the UK. As you can see from later blog posts I switched the games online, and later went down to one playing group as the older kids left the school we&#8217;re based at. It doesn\u2019t seem realistic to get any more schools involved until they get back to normal operation.
